For 142 years, King’s Lynn Town Football Club (KLTFC) has been woven into the fabric of the town, uniting generations of supporters and fostering a lasting sense of community, pride and resilience. Like many historic clubs, The Linnets have known both triumph and turbulence, yet they now stand at the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Fresh investment and a long-term vision are guiding them towards a future firmly rooted at The Docherty Walks Stadium.

Driving that transformation is Turn Sports Investments. In the year since the takeover, the club has seen significant enhancement across every level, from a strengthened playing squad and improved facilities to renewed focus on grassroots development. A partnership with Alive West Norfolk has added further momentum, with the first team and under-23s now training at Alive Lynnsport.

As the new season begins, King’s Lynn Town FC is determined to build on that progress both on and off the pitch. “Our priority has been to create stability and lay strong foundations for the future. That has meant building the right team and setting out a clear long-term strategy,” explains Michael Clunan, Chief Executive Officer at KLTFC. “We want The Linnets to be a club that is sustainable, ambitious and firmly rooted in its community.”

For Michael, success is measured by far more than league position. “Of course, we all want to see the team competing at the highest level possible, but sustainable success also means operating responsibly, growing our supporter base, developing local talent, strengthening commercial partnerships and making a positive impact,” he says. “If we can achieve all of those things together, footballing success is far more likely to follow.”

As those foundations continue to take shape, there is a growing sense of optimism around the club. Supported by passionate fans and a team committed to its future, King’s Lynn Town FC is embracing the opportunities ahead.

Central to that vision is strengthening the club’s connection with the local community, creating a welcoming and accessible hub that brings people together throughout the year. “We pride ourselves on building relationships with supporters, local businesses, schools, community groups and families through inclusive events, affordable ticket offers and mascot opportunities,” says Michael. “The stronger those relationships become, the stronger the football club will be.”

For Head Coach Paul Caddis, the players sit at the heart of that ethos. Their willingness to speak with fans, visit local groups and attend community events helps foster a sense of pride and belonging. “It creates a stronger connection and reminds everyone that we’re representing something bigger than ourselves,” he says.

Football clubs have a unique ability to unite people, from lifelong supporters in the stands to young players taking their first steps onto the pitch. By investing in grassroots development, King’s Lynn Town is helping ensure that connection continues for generations to come.

“Developing young players isn’t just about producing footballers; it’s about giving young people the chance to grow, learn and represent their local club,” says Michael. “We want to create an environment where talented players can progress while also gaining important life skills and values.”

The club’s Academy Development Centre welcomes children of all ages and abilities, and Paul believes there is a place for any young player willing to work hard and embrace the right attitude. His advice to aspiring footballers is simple: enjoy the game but never underestimate the value of hard work.

“Talent will only take you so far,” he says. “Be coachable, be disciplined and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Every player faces disappointments along the way. The ones who keep improving, listen to advice and maintain a positive outlook are often the ones who go furthest.”

That philosophy is reflected in The Linnets’ first-team squad. Paul has built a group not only around skill, but around character, selecting players who are honest, resilient and fully committed to the badge.

“The National League tests you physically and mentally, so we need players who can handle setbacks, stay united through difficult periods and maintain high standards every day in training,” he says. “Our supporters can expect to see a team that works hard, plays with intensity and represents the club in the right way. If we do those things consistently, we’ll give ourselves every chance of having a season that everyone connected with King’s Lynn Town can be proud of.”

Whatever the final score, King’s Lynn Town FC has already shown that it’s about far more than football. “It might be a game that happens on a Saturday afternoon, but we hope the club’s impact is felt throughout the week and across the wider Norfolk community,” Michael concludes. “That’s the kind of legacy we’re working to build.”
